Testing the Stun Gun Make certain that no part of your hand or body is closer to the contact probes than the switch and safety zone plate. (About 1 1/2") Getting closer than this to the contact probes can result in you receiving a mild shock. When you press the switch, a charge will fire across the the front of the unit between the test probes. It will continue to fire as long as you hold the switch in, and will cease firing the the moment you release the switch and allow it to return to it's normal position. Fire a test charge for only a one second duration as a longer fire may damage the probes and will deplete the battery very quickly. After test firing, you will need to discharge the unit. This is done by touching the units probes against a piece of metal. You will see a final spark and the unit will then be safe. Failure to do so may result in you receiving a shock if you inadvertently touch the probes within 5 minutes of the last test. Points of Contact It is recommended that you have your stun gun out and ready when walking thru a potential dangerous area such as a parking lot or while walking your dog. Make a habit of it. Stun guns are contact devices and do not shoot anything out of it. The best points of contact would be the upper hip, below the rib cage or the upper shoulders. This is due to there being nerve centers at those points, however the stun gun will work when touched at any point of the body. If touched to an arm or leg - it will stun that limb but it may not affect their whole body. As a rule of thumb - aim for any area on the torso. Hold the stun gun against the assailant as long as is necessary to incapicitate them and allow you to escape. (1-5 seconds depending on voltage) While using you cannot suffer a charge back to your own body, even if the assailant is holding you. Our product are very easy to use and have both a safety switch as well as trigger switch. If at anytime you have questions, feel free to contact us . A: A stun gun is a hand held, electrical self defense device that uses high voltage to stop an attacker. Touching a person with the prongs on the gun quickly immobilizes the attacker by causing intense pain and loss of muscle control. The voltage causes the body to quickly dump massive loads of lactic acid into the muscles. This is similar to what happens when you get a cramp, but in this case it is a larger part of the body affected and for a longer period of time. Because the amperage of a stun gun is very low, no serious or permanent injury is inflicted. Stun guns have been used by police departments, security agencies, and individuals desiring protection against attack. They have been proven to be an excellent defensive device as they have incredible stopping power and yet remain non-lethal. Typically they operate on one or two 9-volt batteries and range from 100,000 volts to 900,000 volts. You may also want to look at How to use stun guns Q: What difference does the voltage make ? A: In a stun gun, The higher the voltage, the more powerful the shock and the quicker the attacker is immobilized. The higher the voltage, the less time you have to contact the assailant to immobilize them. For example, a 100,000 volt stun gun requires you to touch the person for 8 - 10 seconds to immobilize them. This would be considered much too long to be an effective self defense device. On the other hand, a 800 or 900,000 volt stun requires you to touch the person for about 1/2 of a second to 1 second making it extremely quick acting and effective. We strongly advise you to get the most powerful stun gun you can afford. You may also want to look at How to use stun guns Q: Which ones do you recommend ? A: Most people should get a minimukm voltage of 500,000 or 600,000 volts. This would be considered a minimum and we highly recommend that you get the highest voltage you can afford. The more powerful units will allow you to incapicitate an assailant with the least amount of effort allowing you to escape safely.
Q: Will a stun gun work on those under the influence ? A: Yes! Stun guns do indeed work even on those under the influence of alcohol or narcotics. A stun gun causes a great deal of pain however it is more important to note that it is causing the body tio have a chemical reaction. The voltage from a stun causes the body to release lots and lots of lactic acid into the muscles. This is similar to what happens when you have a cramp except it is affecting a much larger area of the body, is far more intense and lasts much longer. The bottom line is, pain compliance is possible but what you really want is for the assailant to not be able to get up until after you have safely retreated and the person being under the influence is not a factor when a stun gun is properly used. You may also want to look at How to use stun guns Q: If the aggressor is touching me will I be Stunned ? A: No. Even if the aggressor is physically touching you when you fire the stun gun into them you can not suffer from a charge back! The stun gun produces very little amperage and therefore will not work in this way. You may also want to look at How to use stun guns Q: Will a stun gun work through clothing ? A: Yes. Stun guns are designed to be 100% effective even through typical clothing. Electricity has no problem going through most kinds of clothing, even thick jackets or coats. The exception would be if it is a rubber material such as a rubber rain jacket or something similar. You may also want to look at How to use stun guns Q: Can a stun gun be fired multiple times ? A: Yes. With a new set of batteries a stun gun can be fired many, many times. This makes a stun gun an excellent choice for defending yourself against multiple assailants. The only limit to how many times the stun gun can be fired would be the life of the battery. If properly used, a new battery will last for at least 100 uses of the stun gun. We highly recommend using either a Duracell or Energizer brand batteries. You may also want to look at How to use stun guns Q: What kind of batteries does a stun gun require ? A: All of our stun devices use 9 volt alkaline batteries. We specifically recommend Duracell batteries as they have been proven to be the most consistent and reliable. Energizer batteries also work well. Do not use rayovac, panasonic or generic brand batteries as the do provide a high load charge and your stun gun will not work properly. The instructions that come with your stun gun mention using rechargeable batteries. Please do not use rechargeable batteries or your stun gun will not work properly. The reason the instructions mention rechargeable batteries is that the rechargeable batteries available in Asia and Europe work differently than the ones here in the United States. You may also want to look at How to use stun guns Q. Where are your stun guns manufactured ? A. Panther stun guns, King Cobra stun guns and Black Cobra stuns are all manufactured in South Korea and imported to the United States. South Korea produces good quality products that pass different quality controls to produce a good, reliable product. Many of the cheaper stun guns you see on the market are produced in China. We would advise you to be careful of the quality of stun guns that are made in China as they typically have poor quality control and the materials used are typically of a low quality. Tasers are manufactured in the United States and are well designed and of a good quality. You may also want to look at How to use stun guns Q. Will a stun gun kill someone ? A. When properly used, a stun gun is a non lethal device that will not cause permanent damage. When used, a stun gun is not electrocuting a person - the voltage produced is causing a physical reaction and chemical reactions in the body which includes the rapid dump of lactic acid into the muscles creating an extreme state of cramping that can last for anywhere from 3 minutes to an hour. There have been reports of stun guns having caused deaths in the past, but this has always been when the stun gun was being used in ways it was not intended for. You may also want to look at How to use stun guns Q. Can a stun gun be used on a dog or other animal ? A. Yes, a stun gun is very effective on aggressive animals. We have sold many stun batons for people that are concerned about aggressive dogs, coyotes and other animals. There are limitations though. Please do not think that a stun gun will stop a bear. Animals have a much higher pain tolerance than humans. If you do use your stun gun on an animal, be prepared to have to contact the animal more than once or for a longer period of time We have found that most people do not need to ever actually touch the animal as triggering the stun gun in the air produces a loud popping noise that seems to disturb the dogs ears. If you see an agressive dog approaching we would recommend triggering the stun gun and seeing how the animal reacts. If it turns away, then that's great. If not, then be prepared to use your stun gun. You may also want to look at How to use stun guns A: Tasers are manufactured in the United States by Taser International which was founded in 1983. A taser is a non-lethal self-defense weapon that uses compressed nitrogen to shoot two tethered needle-like probes at an assailant in order to deliver an electric shock. The probes travel at a speed of 135 feet per second (41 meters per second) with a maximum reach of 15 feet (4.5m). When the probes penetrate the attacker's skin, an electric shock passes between them, disrupting the assailant's nervous system. This cuases the attacker to lose all control and coordination. The taser will continue to apply the electrical charge in an auto-timed sequence of an initial charge of several seconds followed by many short bursts. This prevents the assailant from recovering from the initial shock and removing the probes. During this event the user can abandon the taser on the ground and escape. Q. Which is better, a stun gun or a taser ? A: Both are excellent self defense devices however we beleive a Taser is more suited for home defense and a stun gun is better for everyday walking around defense. Tasers shoot two darts at a range of about 15 feet however the large size of the taser is not practical for carrying around on a regular basis, also most street attacks happen at close range which does not allow you time to react with the taser where as the stun gun is a contact device that is small and compact and can easily be carried at all times. Since most attacks do happen at close range , it much more likely that you would be able to contact the person and drop them with the stun gun than it would be like ly for you to pull out the taser, take aim and fire and hope you hit the target. Keep in mind, you will have fear and adrenaline working against you. For the home, you typically have a short period of time availble to get your taser and prepare to use it. The best case scenario would be to own a taser for the home and a stun gun for your everyday slef defnese needs.
